Your Vote Counts!

We have all seen those letters in the mail that come with a note that says “Cast Your Vote Now”.   Whether it be on some sort of insurance policy you hold or a credit union or a variety of institutions that require their overseeing Board to be elected ‘by the people’.   Along with the ballot there is a description of the people who have volunteered to take on that responsibility. And face it, we don’t have a clue who they are or what they stand for… really.   There is a bio, yes, but how does that help us determine who to really vote for??   So what do we do?   Admittedly, we often throw it into the trash.

Or what about those ballots that come and there is only one candidate? That is what the last WRAP Election ballot looked like.

Do you still take the time to cast your vote? Especially when it doesn’t really matter on the outcome? Or does it?

Yes. It does matter. Your vote means that you care enough about the WRAP Organization to get involved. Your vote says you respect and appreciate the people who have agreed to serve YOU. Your vote says you believe not only in WRAP but in the profession that you serve in and the support that WRAP gives that profession. Your vote says you appreciate the time others invest on YOUR behalf.

Yes, an uncontested ballot is discouraging because it means there are not the people who are willing to commit to WRAP leadership. But even more discouraging is a low number of people who actually take the time to put a stamp on the ballot and mail it in.

Be an encourager. State a message. Vote.
