This book can be a great tool for the new and experienced activity professional. For new activity professionals, it gives an easy-to-read understanding of dementia, skills needed for caregivers, and the role of activity professionals. For experienced folks, it provides lots of activity ideas. I think we all are occasionally guilty of getting stuck in a rut, especially when working in units for residents with dementia. This book has over 170 pages of specific activity ideas including the details necessary to make them happen. A few included are: making stew, shamrock sponge painting, all the details to a Hawaiian themed party including Hawaiian names, a really fun Spring Weather program, a lot of egg activities, fashion shows, poem writing, etc. You can’t go wrong!
